To define a flexitarian diet, it is largely that of being a vegetarian, but one which will also sometimes include meat or fish. What is an example of a standard flexitarian plant-based day?

To help you out with how you can make your diet flexitarian, we’ve put together a sample plant-based menu for a day:

  • Breakfast: Porridge, berries and seeds, or wholegrain toast with peanut butter and a side of fruit, or even a simple bowl of fortified wholegrain cereal with milk and sprinkled dried fruits
  • Lunch: Homemade vegetable and lentil soup, full of peas, spinach, carrots, potato, and lentils, with a side of wholegrain bread, or a delicious wrap filled with hummus, falafel and lots of salad vegetables
  • Dinner: A dinner of hearty bean and root vegetable cassoulet with nutty brown rice, or a deliciously light tofu and nut stir fry bursting with colourful vegetables on a bed of noodles
