After you’ve looked after everyone else look after yourself.
The NEW Eat Positive range includes four tasty recipes:
Getting your 5 a day. This means eating at least 5 portions of different fruits and vegetables every day for good health. Scientific research has shown that people who eat lots of fruit and vegetables may have a lower chance of getting serious illnesses like heart disease and some cancers. A portion is 80g and each Eat Positive meal contains at least 1 of your 5 a day, in fact Chicken Penne & Vegetables and the Chicken Tikka & Vegetables meals both contain 2 of your 5 a day.
Antioxidants. These are very useful substances as they help protect our body tissue from damage which could otherwise lead to serious illnesses like cancer, heart disease or stroke. Antioxidants in effect ‘clean up’ potentially dangerous molecules before they can damage our cells. Vegetables are an important source of antioxidants. Eat Positive Chicken Penne & Vegetables is naturally rich in antioxidants due to the vegetable content of the recipe
Vitamins A & C. Both these vitamins are antioxidants. Our body can make Vitamin A from beta carotene found in fruit and vegetables – it gives them their yellow / orange colours. Vitamins A & C both help keep our body’s natural defence system strong. Vitamin C helps the body absorb iron and Vitamin A is important for healthy eyes.
Omega 3 is an essential fat that the body cannot make itself so our diets must provide it. Omega 3 is a member of the ‘good fats’ group. The best source of omega 3 is fish, especially oily fish like salmon, mackerel or trout. Omega 3 is important for a healthy heart and especially important in the diet of pregnant and nursing women as it is an essential nutrient for brain development in the growing child.
Cholesterol lowering. The inclusion of at least 25g soya protein per day, as part of a healthy lifestyle and diet low in saturated fat, can help reduce blood cholesterol levels. Eat Positive Thai Chicken & Vegetables contains one fifth (5.3g) of the required amount of soya protein in the soya beans used for the recipe. Did you know that as well as helping lower cholesterol, soya beans count towards your 5 a day too!
